OpenForecast (https://weather.openblog.com) has no accounts and does not ask for your name, email or address. Anything you type into a search box or location field is used in your browser to show results and is not stored by us.
Your location
If you press Use my location, your browser asks for permission and then sends your approximate coordinates (rounded to four decimal places) directly to the National Weather Service API at api.weather.gov to look up your forecast. OpenForecast does not receive, log or store your location. Weather pages also request the latest forecast and alerts from api.weather.gov in your browser; the National Weather Service handles those requests under its own policies.
Your choice of °F or °C is saved only in your browser's local storage on this device.
Advertising and cookies
We show ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to show ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can manage personalized ads at Google Ad Settings and learn more at How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Server logs
Like most websites, our servers keep short-lived technical logs (IP address, browser type, page requested, time) to keep the site secure and working. We use them to count visits and block abusive traffic.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information
We do not sell personal information for money. Personalized advertising may count as "sharing" under some U.S. state laws (such as California's CCPA/CPRA). To opt out, turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser — we honor it automatically by requesting non-personalized ads — or email [email protected].
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
