Between 4 and 7 inches of heavy, wet, snow fell across the
Fairbanks Metro Area Monday. Warming temperatures Monday evening
into Tuesday have caused portions of that snowfall to melt,
creating many slushy areas of melting snow and pooling water.
Overnight low temperatures Tuesday night into Wednesday morning
are expected to fall into the upper teens to low 20s which will
allow much of this slush to refreeze. Slick surfaces are very
likely Wednesday morning as wet surfaces and small water puddles
freeze. Areas of heavy, wet snow will also refreeze giving the
slush a sturdier, more ice like texture. Travel may be impacted,
especially during the Wednesday morning commute.
Additional rain and snow showers are expected overnight Wednesday
into Thursday with much lighter accumulations than Monday. Less
than an inch of new snow is possible with only a few hundredths of
an inch of liquid equivalent expected.

Hydrologic OutlookFuture
Hydrologic Outlook issued October 27 at 3:36PM AKDT by NWS Fairbanks AK
ESFAFG
Areas of concern are between Nome and Council, particularity streams
and rivers draining the south aspects of the high elevation terrain
of the Seward Peninsula.
Rivers and streams in the Nome and Council area are already high
following rainfall over the weekend. 1-3 more inches of precipitation
are expected by the end of the week which will keep water levels
high.
No flooding is expected at this time, however residents living near
local rivers and streams should be vigilant of the potential for ice
in culverts and other stream passage structures to restrict flow
resulting water flowing over roads in affected areas.
